Menu’s
are on the web site.
We
have been going to the Café for years and the first thing you should know about
this place is the consistent good quality of the food and service.
The
prices are very reasonable, so you can take the family and not break the bank.
When you enter and go up to the glass desk you will be met buy a friendly
hostess, and if you’re really lucky you will be standing in front of a short
beautiful lady with a big smile and a heart match, we know her for years, Her
name is Susie.. If your going on a Friday or Saturday evening you may have to
wait for a table at the bar, and if your very lucky you will meet Laura Odom
one of the bartenders, or as I like to call them, mixologists. Laura is an
attentive, quick, talkative, friendly bartender..
When you sit down a server will be at your
table quickly, and will let you know the specials for the day. The last time we
were there, Donna had the “ROCK BURGER” with fries, this is sure to please and
fill you up. I started with a bowl of Waylon’s Green Chili, not to spicy that
you can’t enjoy, or make it “HOT” if you like it that way. Now Donna and I have
had almost every thing on the menu in the past, However if your looking for a
great Pan-Fried Chicken Dinner, LOOK NO FURTHER, choices are all white meat or
all dark meat, this dinner comes with mashed potatoes, crackling gravy,
homemade rolls and a choice of soup, salad or slaw. YOU BETTER BE HUNGRY!!! NOW
YOU SHOULD KNOW IT TAKES 30 MINUETS TO COOK. It’s worth the wait, and besides
your server will have Laura make you another cocktail, you don’t want to hurry
in this establishment, you may miss something like the rich history of the
Café. You can Checkout the pictures on the walls, showing off old Castle Rock.
Read the back of the menu and you will see why, you don’t want to rush,
Just
sitting at the bar, one could envision a stagecoach pulling up, and the
Stage
riders looking for dinner and a room.
(Watch
for the occasional drunk cowboy trying to ride his horse in the bar.) (If) you
have room for dessert try the Apple pie and put vanilla ice cream on top.
The
owners and mangers are always around and will ask if everything is OK. I have a
good source that tells me, one of the owners makes a mean OLD FASHION, give it
a try.
If you’re the type of person that does not like
to wait for a table, go after the dinner rush, around 7:30pm. Donna and I have
a great time every time we go here the food is always good the people are
friendly, atmosphere is warm and inviting. We always meet new people that turn
into old friends at the Café. This is a taste of Castle Rock that should not be
passed up.
Well
that’s it for this month. Until next time
Live
and Eat Well
Steve
