Mt. Fuji's

Hi, to all

Now Donna And  I will tell you about a very good oriental restaurant
Mt. Fuji's (Japanese Cuisine)
4714 Milestone Lane, Unit H
Castle Rock, Colorado. 80104
303-660-2618 or 303-660-2612

This establishment is in the same shopping center as Pet smart and Office Max, one or two  doors down from  Khols.
It would be a good idea to go over the copious menu.
And then speak to the people serving you when you get there, ask the opinion of the staff about some of the foods served, especially   if you plan on having Sushi or Sashimi.
Donna and I have been to this establishment more than a few times, THAT should tell you something.
The one thing I have learned is that unless you are a BIG eater, skip the appetizers because leavening the table you will be carrying a Doggy bag and you will be stuffed. The servings are bountiful.
My wife Donna and I have had the Hibachi Dinners and Sushi mixed and also the sat at the Mongolian Grill.
When I was in the south Pacific, South China Sea, Philippines I learned about Sushi and all the good things that raw fish can be..   I had my preconceived ideas about eating fish that was not cooked and had to be humiliated by army buddies in front of many people, to try it. Well it did not take much to find out that (Sashimi) is very tasty and good to eat. Now considering that we here in Colorado are a FEW miles from any ocean, it is my pleasure to tell you that the raw fish I had was Fresh! I don’t know how and I don’t care as long as it tasted fresh, I stayed with Sashimi Regular 16 pcs.  Assorted with white rice and it was wonderful.
Donna had California roll and sweet Potato Tempura Roll, then Hibachi Salmon that came with Soup Vegetables Rice and Noodles.  The salmon is as tasty as can be and cooked in front of you along with the rice…  We had to take almost half of that diner home.
My sister Karen is a meat eater so she went for the Hibachi Combo of Steak and Chicken, also comes with rice and soup and more food then you can eat… We sat at a grill with another couple with two children and the Hibachi chef was an artist, cook, clown, standup comedian and part time baby sitter all in one, while he was cooking food for us he was entertaining all of us, At one point he was flipping small cooked shrimp into the mouths of the kids and they were loving life, we were laughing and talking and the time flew by.

As he is cooking he will be putting more and more food on your plate and before you know it you are full.
This is Japanese Cuisine and it’s good.. The place is clean, staff is friendly, and they have a full bar. Be careful of the rice wine, it will come on slowly but it will hit you…When we were leaving, we had a bag that looked like we called in an order and were just picking it up.. I like this place and I think you will also.. Any comments.  email me sjrago@comcast.net.

Boulevard pizza Kitchen

I normally do not do fast foods, or an establishment that is considered a Pizzeria..

However when some one is doing a great job, we want to let every one know.
Donna and I want you to know about a job well done.
So this month’s review is for,

Boulevard pizza Kitchen
78 E Allen Street #104
Castle Rock, Colorado. 80108
303-660-6458

Menu is on the web site,
If you’re not hungry now,, you will be after going to the web site…

This enterprise is located in the same parking lot as the Red Robin and Discount Tire if you going up Founders Parkway east from RT 25, you will see it on the left before Front street.
Our family grew up in Brooklyn, New York. And we have had a lot of diverse pizza and pasta dishes, from both grandmas, all my aunts and the professionals cook in the restaurants around the city of New York. So, I have been exposed to this type of food for about 56 years.

The divine aromas coming out of the kitchen will hit you when you’er walking in the door, I must say that “Pullie and Keri” the owners are from my old neighborhood- in Brooklyn, they have created an Italian food mecca, that serves, what we have in old Italian community called “Peasant Food” That now, has worked it’s way into the American culture..
I will start off with the pizza, First and fore most the crust is correctly made and cooked just right, the pizza chef, (Frank) knows what he’s doing making great pizza., I have had a few ;-) and I tried as many  different slices as I could, So far, it is like I am standing on 18th Avenue in Bensonhurst Brooklyn and this, is BROOKLYN pizza, be still my heart.!! The appetizers and sides are just wonderful, try the Pinwheels (pepperoni or spinach) The battered mushrooms come with ranch or marinara sauce and your going to love it.
The Salads are made like what the old Italians in New York used to say, (like the old country). All fresh, high quality ingredients.
The cold subs are big, 12-inch baguette. Sure to fill and satisfy.
The hot subs are in the top five that I have ever had. The sausage parmigiana must be tried.
Sausage and peppers taste like you are eating at the feast in little Italy in lower Manhattan.
If you like cheese then you must try the calzone. I will tell you that the meatballs made here will impress the most discriminating and hard-core Italians. Do not pass them up

The pasta dish’s are just like “Nona” (grandma) used make.
When Morgan brings you you’re delectable order I am sure that mouth watering will take place and the only way to stop it is EAT!! “Mangiare bene” (eat well) Can you tell that I like this place?
I could go on but for the constraints of space. May be two or three more pages.

I think you understand, that this place is a great place to dine. Wine and beer are served. They also have a patio with fantastic views of the mountains for dinning alfresco. They also cater, and will customize a menu for your event.
This is one of the many restaurant establishments that is making Castle Rock, Colorado
Thee exceptional region to live, eat, drink and enjoy the arts. We are all better off for it.

The Castle Cafe

This month Donna and I went to an old favorite in the heart of Castle Rock.

Castle Café
403 Wilcox
Castle rock, Co.80104
303-814-2233

 www.castlecafe.com

Menu’s are on the web site.

We have been going to the Café for years and the first thing you should know about this place is the consistent good quality of the food and service.
The prices are very reasonable, so you can take the family and not break the bank. When you enter and go up to the glass desk you will be met buy a friendly hostess, and if you’re really lucky you will be standing in front of a short beautiful lady with a big smile and a heart match, we know her for years, Her name is Susie.. If your going on a Friday or Saturday evening you may have to wait for a table at the bar, and if your very lucky you will meet Laura Odom one of the bartenders, or as I like to call them, mixologists. Laura is an attentive, quick, talkative, friendly bartender..

When you sit down a server will be at your table quickly, and will let you know the specials for the day. The last time we were there, Donna had the “ROCK BURGER” with fries, this is sure to please and fill you up. I started with a bowl of Waylon’s Green Chili, not to spicy that you can’t enjoy, or make it “HOT” if you like it that way. Now Donna and I have had almost every thing on the menu in the past, However if your looking for a great Pan-Fried Chicken Dinner, LOOK NO FURTHER, choices are all white meat or all dark meat, this dinner comes with mashed potatoes, crackling gravy, homemade rolls and a choice of soup, salad or slaw. YOU BETTER BE HUNGRY!!! NOW YOU SHOULD KNOW IT TAKES 30 MINUETS TO COOK. It’s worth the wait, and besides your server will have Laura make you another cocktail, you don’t want to hurry in this establishment, you may miss something like the rich history of the Café. You can Checkout the pictures on the walls, showing off old Castle Rock. Read the back of the menu and you will see why, you don’t want to rush,
Just sitting at the bar, one could envision a stagecoach pulling up, and the
Stage riders looking for dinner and a room.
(Watch for the occasional drunk cowboy trying to ride his horse in the bar.) (If) you have room for dessert try the Apple pie and put vanilla ice cream on top.
The owners and mangers are always around and will ask if everything is OK. I have a good source that tells me, one of the owners makes a mean OLD FASHION, give it a try.
If you’re the type of person that does not like to wait for a table, go after the dinner rush, around 7:30pm. Donna and I have a great time every time we go here the food is always good the people are friendly, atmosphere is warm and inviting. We always meet new people that turn into old friends at the Café. This is a taste of Castle Rock that should not be passed up.

Well that’s it for this month. Until next time
