April 2013
So this
month we should send a very big thank you to
Diane
Kiermont Jauch, for recommending an old world style Bistro in Colorado Springs.
Paravicini’s
Italian Bistro
2802 West
Colorado Avenue
Colorado
Springs , Colorado

Menu is on
the web site, and please like them on Face book..
This establishment is a corner brick building
on the north corner of West Colorado Ave. and S.28th Street. When I
walked in to the corner door it looked, felt and had the aromas of some of the
old world restaurants that you might find in some Old Italian neighborhood
tucked away in the Bronx, Brooklyn or Philadelphia, and you could imagine
seeing some of (THE BOYS) having lunch or dinner off in the corner and
you would know that a high stakes crap game is going on in the basement. But
you came to eat and eat you will. If you are the (BOSS) with a large
crew, you may want to sit, eat, discuss the (business), you can
sit in small room in the back and be serenaded by the music of Frank Sinatra,
Dean Martin, Tony Roselli
, Sammy Davis, and many others. The smallest dining room is comfortable with
pictures of many classic movie stars and singers. I went to Parvicini’s with my
good friend Tom Delgorino from Perry Park Ranch, we got there in the middle of
lunch and customers were just sitting a talking to one another and enjoying
lunch. I observed that there is ample
seating, so no one felt as though they were being rushed to turn over a table.
The Chef Franco Pisani, was going around the dining room asking everyone how
the food was and did they need anything, he’s very personable and will take the
time to chat with you and then move on to the next table. The servers come to
the tables quickly and the one sever that took care of us was well versed in
the menu and specials. I started off with a house made Caesar salad that was
just delicious; you can get it with anchovies if you are the hearty of feeders.
I just do not care for them. Then came the Tortellini Carbonara, Cheese filled
Tortellini in alfreado sauce with peas and prosciutto. If you do not like Tortellini
you can any pasta you like. Tom did just that and had it with linguini. He and
I were very satisfied, even the bread tasted like it’s made in house. I ordered a side of meatballs because to
Italians that is the Holy Grail, if they are good the place is worth the trip,
just so you know it is unquestionably worth the trip. The menu has seafood
Pasta, Classic Entrees, i.e. Veal and Chicken Marsala, New York Strip Steaks
and great appetizers. I watch a worker make a Mozzarella Caprese salad all
fresh cut tomatoes and roasted peppers with mozzarella oil and basil, I tasted
it with my eyes and almost ordered one, but I was full at that time. You can
dine family style if you care to, and it is the type of place one can feel
comfortable on an intimate night out or Dinner with the entire family, bring
the kids, there is a menu for them also. After lunch I walked around to get the flair
of this establishment and you will find a fully stocked bar, and a wine list to
please most. The kitchen is open so you can see in and watch the cooks as they
work,
When walking
around I found three different dining rooms, the small one in the back can
accommodate a group of approximately 20 people. The next larger dining room
will hold approximately 40 people. Take
the time to look at all the photos on the wall, which will bring back many good
memories of Old Hollywood. If you get a chance to see Franco tell him Diane
from Ct. sent you, or just print this out and bring it with you for him and the
crew to read.. I am sure you will like this place; your comments are always
welcome at sjrago@comcast.net
If you like
German food you are going to love next month. Until then
Live and Eat
Well
Steve
